Jennifer Takaki Premiere Corky Lee Film

Jennifer Takaki decided to Premiere her film of the late Corky Lee in June of 2022. It was greeted with overwhelming support from many in the Arts community and the Asian and P.O.C. community.  An unexpected surprise when we went to the after party was running into Pilar Katz and family. My daughter had her as an art teacher in The Cinema School, and Pilar's sister knew a photographer friend of mine.

I'm not going to reveal much here about the film, but Jennifer spent more than a two years compiling information on Corky Lee, tracking down family members and making sure that she got as much information about him as possible. Kudos to Ms. Takaki, she knew how to make a Biographic film, even thought the subject was sometimes grumpy, and felt she was intruding. This is a biographer's job and so many aspects of the multi-talented Corky Lee are captured on film; for the historical record. I would be remiss to mention the twins, Kevin and James Hsi; who are everywhere fighting for human rights and quoting history.

If you don't know Corky Lee, you need to see this film, if you feel that you know him; you still need to see this film. It is a piece of cinematic and biographical history which I must say that I am glad Ms. Takaki tackled, because so much has been lost and never documented properly..

A few more fun pictures.
